Sunset, Lighthouse, Lake Superior

The Upper Penninsula of Michigan is a beautiful place for a vacation any time of the year, but autumn is particularly nice. This lighthouse is on a pier at the entrance to the Portage Lake Ship Canal near Houghton. The "headlights" effect at the base of the lighthouse is caused by diffraction of the light from the sun setting behind it.
