The Owl butterfly is native to Mexico, Central and South America. The purpose of the spectacular eye-like spots on its wings is not clear. This photo was taken at the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls,
Canada. The Conservatory is a delightful place to visit--you walk
among specimens of several dozen different beautiful butterflies
and moths. |
