Ice floes calve off of glaciers and then slowly melt in the warmer seawater, forming shapes that are both fantastic and beautiful. This one reminds me of the figurehead on a ship--what does it look like to you? The deep blue color is a result of the pressure under which the ice was formed. NOTE: The deep blues in this image show best when viewed under daylight (or daylight-balanced artificial light). |
